Naked trees on snowy darkening sky
Softened sounds
The silence of snow falling
A slowing down and moments of stopping the buzz
No cell phones
No computers
No music
No one
Reality is deafening and completely silent
How was I able to not see it? Not hear it?
If I have a prayer tonight
I pray that this moment is always accessible, this snowy silence in my heart.
Arm wrapped around the pine, like an old friend
Comforting, loving
I say with teary eyes, “Why is life so confusing?”
She says, “Life isn’t confusing, it just IS. It’s your mind that makes things look confusing but they’re really not.”
Old tree, tall and straight. Long boughs holding snow. You’ve been here a long time and you know the simplicity you speak of.
How could you know anything else but this quiet, this simple silence…
Brilliant and inspiring commentary on modern-day life. Thank you Diane, I find this very helpful. Elaine G.

I love that line: “Reality is deafening and completely silent.” You’ve caught it – the paradox. Thanks for sharing this. Jan

Great reminder to keep our thinking simple and not make situations/people more complicated by reading all sorts of stories into everything.
